FAQ - "The Climb"

 

Visual issues

Q: How can I solve visual problems?

Q: The game is working fine, but I have some warping to the right/left eye!

A: Uninstall or deactivate any GPU overclocking software (EVGA PrecisionX, etc)

 

Sound but no visuals

Q: Massage: "Sorry we are having issues starting the climb..."

Q: Oculus Log message: "Graphics adapters do not match between client and service."

A: Both, Oculus Rift and Monitor/TV must be connected to the same video card! When using an external video card you have to deactivate the internal GPU and connect a monitor/TV to the external card.

 

Message: “The description for Event ID 0 from source OVRServiceLauncher cannot be found ...”

Q: "The Climb" will not load. I also get the message: “The description for Event ID 0 from source OVRServiceLauncher cannot be found.” Why?

A: This is a known issue with the Oculus Launcher. Oculus is aware of this problem and working on a fix.

 

Message: “Your head intersects with an object. Please move it.”

Q: My head movement causes a black screen. I also get the message: “Your head intersects with an object. Please move it.” Why?

A: You moved your head into geometry/terrain.

 

Message: “Race couldn't be loaded”

Q: I got the message: "Race couldn't be loaded”. Why?

A: The asynchronous multiplayer info could not be loaded due to a connectivity issue.

 

Message: “DXGI_Error_Device_Removed”

Q: I got the message: "DXGI_Error_Device_Removed” when starting "The Climb". Why?

A: This error is usually caused by the graphics card crashing; try installing/re-installing the latest drivers.

 

Message: “Sorry we are having issues starting the climb. Please check your desktop for any menus, options or errors required to run the game.”

A: Multi-GPU LUID Mismatch - The Oculus Rift must be plugged into the primary video adapter. Please plug your Rift into the other HDMI port, or switch your primary monitor to be the one connected to the same video adapter as your rift. Disable your second GPU.

 

Message: “HMD problem detected. This message will disappear once the problem is solved. Afterwards press the Oculus Home button and go back to the game.”

Q: What can I do when I get this error message?

Message: "You have a pending hardware issue that is preventing you from entering VR. Please check that your headset and sensor are connected.”

Game is crashing

Q: I get a black screen on my PC monitor and grey screen on the Oculus headset! Why is my game crashing? What can i do?

A: If you're using a wireless keyboard, please check the batteries! 

 

Game is not loading / crashing during loading

Q: During launch the game is crashing.
     Error.log file is showing:
     [Crashed] Call Stack: ["ThreadNameUnknown" [2700]]
     1) OUT_OF_MEMORY()

A: Change the virtual memory on your PC to system managed.

 

DirectX runtime - Version

Q: How can I find out what version of DirectX is installed on my PC?

A: Open run dialog (windows + r), type 'dxdiag' and hit enter, click through WHQL yes/no question. The DirectX Version is on the start page at the bottom.

 

Using Notebook with an EXTERNAL video card

Q: Can I use an external video card? What do i have to consider?

A: Both, Oculus Rift and Monitor/TV must be connected to the same video card! When using an external video card you have to deactivate the internal GPU and connect a monitor/TV to the external card.

 

Leap Motion

Q: Does "The Climb" supports Leap Motion?

A: Leap Motion is in the current version of "The Climb" not supported.
